Pineapple Upside Down Cake Recipe

Craving a sweet treat with a tropical flavor? Try the classic pineapple upside down cake! It’s perfect for any occasion, and will impress all friends and family with its appealing look and addictive taste. Here’s how to make your own pineapple upside down cake in little to no time.

Ingredients needed:

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ⅔ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple slices with juice, drained, juice reserved
  • Maraschino cherries
  • 1 box of Betty Crocker Super Moist Yellow Cake (Calls for vegetable oil and eggs)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350℉. Melt butter in a 13x9in pan in the oven and sprinkle brown sugar over the butter evenly. Arrange the pineapple slices on the brown sugar. Place cherries in the center of each pineapple slice (press into the brown sugar.
  2. Make cake batter as directed on the box, but substitute the water for the reserved pineapple juice. If the juice is not 1 cup worth, add water. Pour the batter over the pineapples and cherries.
  3. Bake for 40 to 46 minutes. Afterwards, immediately slice around the sides of the pan with a knife to loosen the cake. Place a heat safe serving plate upside down over the pan, then turn the plate and pan over. Let the cake cool for 30 minutes. Serve warm or cool.
