Mississippi Town of Cuevas Left Completely Submerged as Wolf River Flooding Overwhelms Homes and Property

CUEVAS, MISSISSIPPI — New drone video captured Saturday afternoon shows the small town of Cuevas, located roughly 30 miles west of Biloxi, almost entirely submerged after extreme flooding along the Wolf River.

Drone Footage Shows Homes Nearly Swallowed by Floodwaters

The aerial footage shows a structure with a distinctive pink and white roof standing in what now resembles a fast-moving river rather than a residential street. Floodwaters can be seen rushing past the building, with only the upper portions of the home and an adjacent deck still visible above the waterline. An American flag can be seen still standing nearby, partially surrounded by the rising water.

Wolf River Flooding Drives Rapid Rise in Water Levels

The flooding follows what appears to have been a significant surge along the Wolf River, which runs through the region. The speed and force of the water visible in the footage suggest the flooding developed rapidly, leaving little time for residents in low-lying areas to respond before homes and property became inundated.

Community Faces Uncertain Road to Recovery

With floodwaters still covering large portions of Cuevas as of Saturday afternoon, the full extent of the damage to homes and infrastructure in the area remains unclear. Residents and emergency crews are expected to continue monitoring the situation as water levels are assessed in the hours ahead.
