#TeamTrees
December 3, 2019
With heavy amounts of deforestation continuing, countless ecosystems are being eradicated; and global warming is rising from the amounts of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere. There used to be around 5.1 billion hectares (one hectare equals 2.471 acres) of forest, but that number has been rapidly dropping. There are currently only about 4.9 billion hectares that cover the planet and decreasing every minute.
Mr. Beast, a popular YouTuber, is trying to reverse this problem and help save the planet. Mr. Beast has started to raise enough money to plant 20 million trees worldwide. Many big media figures have already donated, including Elon Musk, Tobi Lutke, PewDiePie and Jeffrey Star, and the list is steadily growing.
Entire countries are joining in on the fun, with Ukraine donating over 50 thousand trees. Tens of thousands of people have donated, with the current count of trees adding up to nearly 16 million. Anybody can donate, since the cost is so cheap – $1 a tree. For more information or to help donate, head to #TeamTrees website (teamtrees.org) to help save the planet for future generations.
