Advertising Policy

Parkbeacon.org is an independently operated digital news publication supported in part through advertising and sponsored partnerships. This policy exists to give our readers complete transparency about how advertising functions on this platform, what standards we enforce, and how we protect the integrity of our editorial content.

Our Promise to Readers

Advertising keeps independent journalism alive. But it will never compromise what we publish or how we report it.

At parkbeacon.org, there is a clear and permanent wall between our newsroom and our advertising operations. Every ad that appears on this site goes through a review process. Every sponsored piece is labeled before a reader ever sees it. And no advertiser, at any level, has any say in how Robert Beaudoin covers a story.

That is not a guideline. It is a non-negotiable standard.

Forms of Advertising on parkbeacon.org

Programmatic Display Advertising parkbeacon.org works with established U.S.-based advertising networks including Google AdSense, MGID, and other vetted programmatic platforms. These networks serve ads automatically based on general browsing behavior, device type, and non-personal identifiers. Ads may vary by reader based on these signals.

Direct Advertising Placements On a selective basis, we may work directly with businesses to display banner or static ads on our platform. All direct advertisers must meet our content and ethical standards before any placement is approved.

Sponsored Content Occasionally a business or organization may sponsor a piece of content on parkbeacon.org. When this occurs, the content will carry a clear and prominent disclosure label such as Sponsored, Paid Partnership, or Promoted Content at the very top of the page. Sponsored content will never be disguised as independent editorial coverage.

Affiliate Programs parkbeacon.org does not currently participate in affiliate marketing programs. Should this change in the future, all affiliate relationships will be disclosed clearly in accordance with FTC guidelines.

What Advertisers Cannot Do

Advertisers and sponsors on parkbeacon.org have absolutely no influence over the following.

They cannot direct, request, or influence any news story, crime report, weather alert, or editorial decision. They cannot request favorable coverage in exchange for advertising spend. They cannot suppress, delay, or alter any published content. They cannot access reader data beyond what is permitted under our Privacy Policy.

Our editorial independence is not for sale at any price.

Advertising Content We Do Not Accept

parkbeacon.org maintains strict standards for the types of ads permitted on our platform. We do not accept advertising that contains adult or sexually explicit material, promotes illegal products or services, involves tobacco, vaping products, or controlled substances, makes fraudulent or misleading financial promises, distributes malware, spyware, or unsafe software, uses hate speech or discriminatory messaging, disguises political campaign material as news content, or promotes unverified health claims or miracle cures.

All advertising must comply with FTC Truth-in-Advertising Guidelines, Google Advertising Policies, and applicable U.S. federal and state laws. parkbeacon.org reserves the right to reject or remove any advertisement at any time without explanation.

Sponsored Content Standards

Any sponsored content published on parkbeacon.org must carry a clear disclosure label at the top of the article, must not mislead readers about its commercial nature, must not imply editorial endorsement from parkbeacon.org or Robert Beaudoin, and must comply fully with U.S. advertising and disclosure laws. We will not publish sponsored content that promotes harmful products, makes deceptive claims, or attempts to manipulate public opinion under the appearance of independent journalism.

How Ads Are Personalized

Our advertising partners may use the following to serve relevant ads to visitors: browser cookies and identifiers, general location data at city or state level, device type and operating system, and pages visited during your session on our site.

We do not permit advertising partners to collect your name, email address, phone number, precise GPS coordinates, or any sensitive personal information. Each advertising partner operates under its own privacy policy, which you are encouraged to review independently.

Your Advertising Choices

You are in control of how ads reach you. You may opt out of personalized advertising through the U.S. AdChoices Program at https://www.aboutads.info/choices, adjust your Google ad preferences at https://adssettings.google.com, disable cookies through your browser settings at any time, or use private browsing mode to limit cookie-based tracking. Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads from the site entirely but will result in less targeted ad content.

Third-Party Advertiser Responsibility

Third-party advertisers and networks are solely responsible for ensuring their advertisements comply with U.S. law, their landing pages are accurate and safe for users, and their promotional claims are truthful and not misleading. parkbeacon.org is not liable for the content, products, services, or claims presented on third-party advertiser websites. Readers who click on advertisements and visit external sites do so at their own discretion.

Report a Problematic Ad

If you come across an advertisement on parkbeacon.org that appears unsafe, offensive, misleading, or out of place, please report it to us immediately. We take these reports seriously and will investigate and act accordingly.
