Ever wonder what the end of humanity will be? Drought? Famine? There are many movies depicting world ending space threats, thanks to NASA this will no longer be a concern. 

NASA is becoming Earth’s defender against asteroids. On September 26, 2022 Nasa successfully crashed a spacecraft into an asteroid. This was done as a test for planetary defense. 

The spacecraft, named DART (Double Asteroid Redirection Test) was launched 10 month ago. This test demonstrated NASA’s capability to defend the earth from asteroids. It targeted the asteroid Dimorphos. NASA successfully made impact with the asteroid at 7:14 p.m. EDT.

What does this mean for Earth’s future? It means that the world has a defense that may save humanity from a life-ending event from space.
