With Valentine’s Day approaching it is the perfect time to curl up on the couch and watch some classic romantic films whether you are celebrating with a significant other, friends, or family. Whether you want a good laugh or cry there is something for everyone, so add these titles to your list of Valentine’s Day films.

Pride and Prejudice 

 Set in the early 19th century, there is a struggle between the idea to marry for love or marrying for economic reasons. All five daughters cannot inherit the family estate so they are forced to marry. The main character, Elizabeth Bennet, hates the idea of marrying due to society’s pressures until one man catches her eye and things change.

The Notebook

The classic film is powered with unbelievable chemistry between Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. A young woman and man who are desperately in love face many challenges like disapproving parents, war, and other men. Realizing they can’t live without one another they find their way back to each other. 

10 Things I Hate About You 

This is a cute romantic comedy perfect for teens focuses on the high school life of  sisters Kat and Bianca Stratford. While Kat is not at all boy crazed like her fellow classmates, Bianca is dying to get out from under the house rules of no dating. The house rule is that Bianca can’t date unless her older sister Kat has a date, so you can guess the focus of Bianca’s mission.

Hitch 

A secret dating coach, Hitch, teaches hopeless men his tips and tricks to finally find love. As he takes on his newest and most challenging client, he faces his own romantic setbacks with a news reporter who doesn’t go for his usual moves. Things don’t go as smoothly for the love doctor and that’s when things get interesting.

My Best Friend’s Wedding

Childhood friends who had a plan to get married if they were both single at the age of 28. A couple days before her 28th birthday, Julianne gets a call from her old friend Michael and he invites her to his wedding. She realizes she is in love with him and wants to win him back, but you’ll have to watch to see how this turns out.
