Park finished with their best win total since 2003. That was just two seasons after the current head wrestling coach Jon Burdick finished his wrestling career at Park. 10 of the 11 varsity wrestlers finished with above .500 records and the one that didn’t, fell just one match short. The Park wrestlers finished with four wins and three losses in the South East Conference (SEC) and finished in third place at both regionals and sectionals – a feat they haven’t been able to accomplish since Coach Burdick’s tenure. Overall as a team, the Panthers stats were excellent. The wrestlers combined for 645 takedowns! That number is compared to just 416 last season. The Panthers excelled at overall pins as well. This season the panthers combined for 99 pins compared to just 56 last season. In the most important category, the wrestlers combined to have 222 victories to 150 losses. Last season the panthers only had 114 victories to 150 losses. Just based off these numbers, you can see the exponential growth from last season to this season and the sky’s the limit for the Park wrestling boys.
